Displaced in Sharya

Refugee girl

This girl was living in an unfinished school building with other Yazidi refugees in Sharya at the outskirts of Dohuk, Northern Iraq. Dohuk district, north of Mosul was never occupied by ISIS and had become one of the hotspots for Yazidi refugees. Some have been living in official UN camps, while others have built their own little shanty towns or found shelter in abandoned or unfinished buildings. Usually, these people have been supported by the local Yazidi communities.
