In recent years, things has been getting quieter and quieter here, and priorities have long since changed. The costs also outweigh the remaining benefits. That’s why it’s now time to call it a day: The Ostblog will go offline on 17 February 2026.
The journeys and experiences documented here over almost two decades will remain forever in my memories (and partly also in the Internet Archive). It was great!

Leave a CommentDiana was born in 1944 in the small town of Salonta in nowadays north-western Romania. She studied Industrial Chemistry at the Polytechnic University in Timişoara. At the time when she met her future husband Klaas from Western Germany, she was department head in a rubber company in Pitești.

Doch nicht der fast weiße Sand und das türkisblaue Wasser sind die Besonderheiten dieses eigentlich malerischen Strandabschnitts. Es sind die Hotelruinen, deren zerfallene Gemäuer hinter den Sonnenschirmen steil emporragen. Sie sind die stillen Zeugen des Zypernkonflikts.
